The West End Boxing Gym was established in May 1991. Original trainers were Big Red Rod Christensen, former undefeated Pro (23 - 0) and Australian Champion Mark Janssen, former Olympian and undefeated Pro (16 - 0) Shane Knox.

Since September 1999 original owner Harry Costi and Paul Rees have operated the gym at the same Paris St site with the club being one of the better known in Queensland.

In 2010 the former several times champions and brothers Khuram and Kamran were handed over West End Boxing Gym to keep the fight a light.

One of the Club strengths is the location, being less than 2km from the Brisbane CBD and located in the vibrant hub of West End.

The Gym acts as a second home to many people with competition boxers, fitness instructors, students, blue and white collar workers, mothers and many others working out next to each other in a friendly environment.

Well known boxers that have trained or sparred at the club include: Craig Petersen, Ricky Thornberry, Sam Soliman, Stephen Edwards, John Mugaby, Doug Sam, Brian Jansenn, Daniel Rowsell, Paul and Nathan Briggs, Mr Johnny Lewis, former world amateur champion Galib Jafarov from Kazakhstan and the entire US amateur team from the 2001 Goodwill Games that were held in Brisbane.

Other sports people to have used the gym include: Cricketers Michael Kasprowicz, Wade Seccombe, Rugby League players Darren Lockyer, Mal Meninga, Justin Hodges, Wendell Sailor Rugby Union players Totai Kefu, Sam Cordingley, Berrick Barnes and Swimmer Suzie O'Neill.
The Gym also hosts off season training for many local clubs.
